Green Deal home improvement fund – The 3rd Relaunch! Up to £5600 of funding available per household!
Just weeks into the first launch of the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF), the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) unexpectedly closed the scheme due to an overwhelming demand and a tight Government pot of money.
And now – Green Deal Solutions is delighted to announce that the GDHIF scheme is to be re-opened on 16th March 2015 with £70 million of new funding. IT’S ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS! So, customers needing solid wall insulation can claim up to £3,750 of Government funding towards the work, £1250 towards other measures and extra bits explained below. This is subject to the maximum grant contribution of 67% of the project costs. Click here to drop us your details to start to get the ball rolling for you!
Up to £5,600 will be available to households in England and Wales to help with the cost of installing energy saving measures such as solid wall insulation, double glazing, boilers, cavity wall and floor insulation.
This GDHIF third release, offers a new incentive rate of up to £1250 for installing any two measures from an approved list of 11 energy saving measures (detailed below). This 25% increase in rate makes it even more appealing for thousands more householders throughout England and Wales to undertake multiple measure improvements and enjoy a warmer home for less.
With the GDHIF Third Release, domestic energy customers will be able to receive:
- up to £3750 for installing solid wall insulation;
- and/or up to £1250 for installing two measures from an approved list*
- up to £100 refunded for their Green Deal Assessment;
- up to £500 more if applying within 12 months of buying a new home.
The GDHIF Third Release will be open to new applications from midday on Monday 16 March 2015.
GDHIF SECOND RELEASE IS STILL OPEN FOR 2 MEASURES OFFER
GDHIF Second Release applications for solid wall insulation closed on the 12th December 2014, however approximately £5.5 million is still available up until GDHIF Third Release opens on 16th March 2015.
Once GDHIF third release funding is exhausted DECC will resume allocation of the balance of funding for two measures from the second release, allowing owners and occupiers to apply for;
- up to £1,250 (at the new rate) for installing two measures from an approved list*;
- up to £100 refunded for their Green Deal Assessment if that recommends the measures applied for;
- up to £500 more if applying within 12 months of buying a new home.
GDHIF funds are limited and DECC may vary the terms of the scheme (including the incentive rates) or suspend or close the scheme, with immediate effect, without notice and at any time. DECC will monitor the take up of the scheme and will make changes if required. GDS Property Services will keep you posted – like our Facebook and Twitter pages for the latest news!

If you already have a GDHIF voucher or want to find out more about DECC extending vouchers from the first release of the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) until Tuesday 31 March 2015 – click here. DECC is allowing more time for millions of pounds worth of installations to be carried out. If you want a GDHIF voucher, you can do it from this web link.
The one-off voucher extension applies to GDHIF vouchers that have an expiry date before 31 March 2015 and have not yet been redeemed – affecting around 3,900 voucher holders – including vouchers that have already expired. For the first release of GDHIF, which was open to applications from 9 June to 24 July 2014, vouchers worth up to a maximum of £7,600 were on offer.
The Green Deal home improvement fund is part of the Green Deal Initiative. It allows households to apply for funding cash towards their home improvements for projects such as solid wall insulation and double glazing. It was first opened in June 2014 with a pot of £120m. December 2014’s pot was valued at just £30m. Then, industry experts agreed that it would not last very long – perhaps just a matter of days due to the demand for the funding. DECC says that further releases of funding will now take place quarterly in 2015, with the first expected in February 2015. Get your GDAR or EPC in place and we can fill out the paperwork for you. Pop you details to us here.
