Mrs Dunks has keeping warm all wrapped up
A Manchester resident has joined a growing number of people who are keeping warm and enjoying a warmer home thanks to improving her energy efficiency, all thanks to utility company funding.
Mrs Mary Dunks has recently had external wall insulation fitted for free at her three bedroom semi detached house in Ashton under Lyne, and she is delighted with the results.
“The house looks much nicer, and I felt warmer straight away,” she explained. “It hasn’t cost me a penny and I’ve recommended GDS Property Services to some of my neighbours because I think they could benefit too.
“It’s bitterly cold at the moment, so this has really made a difference for me. I even sent a thank you card after the work was finished, because I was so pleased with the results. I thought that was the least I could do after how much they’ve helped me.”
GDS Property Services fitted the external wall insulation for free using money made available under the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) which has now been replaced by Energy Company Obligation, a part of the Green Deal scheme launched earlier this year.
Dean Murray, managing director for GDS Property Services, said, “External wall insulation is basically like wrapping your house in a big blanket. It stops heat escaping, which means you can be cosy inside even when it’s cold outside.
“People like Mrs Dunks are exactly who we’re trying to help. They don’t want to be paying more and more for their heating bills, and we can make it really simple to stop their homes losing heat, so they stay warm and pay less for keeping warm.”
Dean continued, “Using our Affordable Warmth scheme, we are making it easy for people to access the various funding streams that are available out there. We can assess your home, tell you what you might be eligible for, install energy efficiency measures and arrange any funding. We want customers to get maximum benefit, keeping warm for minimum fuss.”
